Choreographer Kyle Abraham Receives 2016 Doris Duke Artist Award!
The Doris Duke Artist Award recognizes outstanding artists for their ongoing contributions to dance, jazz and theater. Princess Grace Award winner Kyle Abraham is one of 21 recipients to be bestowed this year’s prestigious prize. Kyle, who won his initial Princess Grace Award in 2010, owns dance company Abraham.In.Motion. In a statement, Kyle describes his delight in winning this accolade. “Receiving the Doris Duke Artist Award made me feel like people still believe in me at a time when I really needed to hear that message. This award will allow me space to concentrate and focus on what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.” Kyle has previously been honored with the 2013 MacArthur Genius Award, the 2012 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award, the 2012 USA Ford Fellowship and the 2010 Bessie Award!
